How to Build and Signal Clinical Fluency to Referral Sources
Clinical reputation is built through demonstration, not declaration. Here is the strategy:
Write about it. LinkedIn articles, newsletter content, and blog posts that demonstrate clinical insight into specific LTC case types — falls, bedsores, chemical restraint, staffing violations — signal competency to the referring attorney community before any case interaction occurs.
Speak about it. CLE presentations, bar association programs, and continuing legal education content that covers the clinical dimensions of healthcare litigation positions you as an authority to the attorneys who attend.
Do it in cases. The most powerful referral signal is the one that happens organically: a co-counsel hears you ask a clinically precise deposition question, or reads a demand letter anchored in the regulatory framework, and concludes that you see things in these cases that other attorneys miss.
Create educational resources for referral sources. A short checklist, a brief guide, or an article that helps other attorneys identify nursing home case merit is a referral magnet. It demonstrates competency and creates reciprocity simultaneously.
